I gave in. Marek is in PRESCHOOL!!! I've never been a fan of preschool- I am kind of old fashion that way. But alas, a lady in our ward moved in who has 17 years of experience and decided to start one up. Not only is she in the ward but she also is doing it for way cheap. It made me re-think things a bit. I decided to stop thinking about why I didn't want Marek to go to preschool and started thinking what MAREK would want. That was obvious. Hands down, Marek would die to go to preschool. He loves to socialize, go places, meet new people, LEARN and just have fun! He already talks about how he LOVES nursery every day of the week... I knew SCHOOL would just be his dream.
I was right.
Here are his first day of school pictures:

He couldn't hold still. Here he is yelling,
"SCHOOOOL! GOING TO SCHOOL!!!"
I was right.

"SCHOOL!!! MOMMY SCHOOL!!! YEAH!!!"
He loves his back pack. He loves his class room (in the teacher's home). He loves his friends. He Loves his teacher, Miss Tera. He always talks about her. I will not be surprised when she sneaks into his prayers at night.
Marek brings home a paper from school that tells what he did that day. I thought this was kinda funny, "My favorite center was: Housekeeping! He enjoys making food."
Eh? Housekeeping?
That's my boy! :) He loves to help me cook. He could probably make bread with his eyes closed already ;)
His teacher told me how impressed she is with his learning ability and his long attention span. She also was very impressed that he could already match, identify and sign all his colors. He can also identify all his ABCs and almost sing the whole alphabet. She's trying to find out exactly what to start teaching him. (I owe it all to signing, I swear!)
I came to pick him up the other day to find that he is working on holding and cutting with SCISSORS.
Teacher, "This is Marek's cutting skills using scissors," showing me a piece of paper Marek had cut.
Me, "Ohhhhh. Whoa... how... nice..."
Teacher, "I actually am quite impressed with his fine motor skills and how he handled the scissors."
Me, "Well, it definitely was his first time. That is ONE thing I decided to hold off on teaching him. Marek with scissors is a scary thought for me (imagining him with the permanent marker he used to destroy my couch last week). But ya, wow, I'm glad you're teaching him and that he is doing so well!"
So that is what Marek has begun learning in school.
To CUT with SCISSORS.
Have mercy.
;)
