DiagnosisES

I decided to take Marek in to the doctors today to check out his eye. For the last 3 days it has been swollen and red. I thought it could be 3 things. A sty, a spider bite or pink eye. Well, as we were walking past the doctor to go into the room the doctor heard Ammon cough and said, "You should get that looked at!" It was a joke to him because I think he thought that is why we were there. I piped up and said, "You are right! Can you check him out too while we are here?" (We were there for their emergency appointments cuz it was a Saturday). They were not busy so they agreed to see both kids.

Marek's eye turned out to be an infected sty. I got anitbiotics for it. Then I asked the doctor to look at his bum because they diagnosed it as Ringworm 2 months ago but it still had not gone away even though I'd been putting cream on it that long. The doctor told me it wasn't ringworm but Exzema and prescribed me some more cream. This has also started on his face so I have to cream that as well....

Ammon. The doctor listened to Ammon's heart and he said, "Have you been told that Ammon has a slight heart murmur?" I said NO. He told me it wasn't a problem and it wouldn't become a problem... he just let me know incase anyone asked me if I have been told...now I have been told. No biggie he said (but being a mother I was still taken back).

He checked his ears and said he couldn't see past all the wax so he was going to clean his ears out. He said, "I am going to pull the wax out of his ear. It wont be comfortable and he won't like it. It kind of hurts and he will scream and there might be blood... just to warn you, but it isn't a big deal." Okay... So Ammon screamed bloody murder, more than I have ever heard him possibly scream. Then the doctor looked in his ears and told me he had an ear infection. Sad. I had no idea! :( Ammon gave me no symptoms as to an ear infection!

Then the doctor checked his breathing and his lungs. He was concerned and told me he was going to try using a nebulizer to help clear his lungs. After the 10 min. treatment he told me that his breathing sounded worse but that could be a good sign. He diagnosed him with Bronchitis and wants to see Ammon back in a week to see if the nebulizer worked for him. If he isn't better than it could possibly be asthma. Upon leaving the doctors office I mentioned to the doctor something about Ammon breastfeeding and he said, "You breastfeed?" He seemed surprised. I said Yes. Then he said, "Not to alarm you or anything but just so you know, if you didn't breastfeed him and he was a formula fed baby... he would be hospitalized right now. You think he is sick now? He would be 10 times worse without your breast milk." That scared me but made me feel very good that I breastfeed. The hard work has paid off!

Wow. So that was my surprising doctors visit. I left with 6 perscriptions in hand!! My poor boys. Man, I really hope Ammon gets better and doesn't have asthma...

The mouse that lives in my house is still alive despite ALL of my endeavors to KILL it. I have gone a little mad trying to capture this rodent. Jennie and I camp out each night to try and get the varmint. It has done enough damage in my house that I think there could actually be more than one mouse.... mice... and a whole colony of them. They/it has even been in my room running around. I have seen it on numerous occasions. I am terrified and I can't sleep at night. This particular mouse is too smart. He has eaten the cheese/peanut butter off all the traps without them snapping (except 2 snapped but no luck) and he hasn't been fooled into eating the poison. On top of that he got stuck in a sticky trap and escaped somehow! Only poop and fur were left behind. Wow. I really do HATE this mouse.

The traditional Sunday pictures I always seem to post :)

Man Sara, what a trip to the doctor. We will keep both of them in our prayers. Please keep us updated on both of the boys, please...

Sara, Grandpa asked me to tell you about the sticky traps for mice. They use these in office areas, etc because mice are way to smart. He said to place them against your walls or in the area where they are causing the most damage. He also said that there is a trap that mice can go into but can't get out of. Just a couple of suggestions...
We love you and your little family will be in our prayers.

Sara, I'm so sorry #1, about both kids being sick at once, I know how that goes. You must have a really good baby to have not known he was sick!

#2, about that darn mouse! Do you rent or did you buy the house? If you rent, will the owners or property managers do anything? total bummer.

Good luck!

Hey Sara, my littlest man also has breathing problems. I was told they can't officially diagnose asthma until they are 2....My boy keeps getting sick and has ended up with croup quite a few times. He had to have breathing treatments given to him for 2.5 weeks, I still have to medicine just in case he needs it again. It sure is scary to have things go wrong with your boys. Be thankful you've got a doctor who was observant enough and willing to take a look at your babies.

I hope things go well for them. :)
