Advice please! :)

So I put a video baby monitor back in Marek's room. I was curious to see what he does in his crib and when he really falls asleep and wakes up. He went to bed at 6 pm. It is now 7 pm and I am watching him just chill in his crib. He is AWAKE. It has been an hour and he is still awake and totally content! He doesn't make any sounds, just rolls around with his horse and sticks his foot through the crib. So all this time when I put him to bed at 6 he really doesn't fall asleep till hours later. Is that bad? Am I neglecting him? I would think that quite time would be good for any baby (and mother) but I want opinions. Should I not be putting him to bed till later and stimulating his brain for an hour longer? He no longer takes 2 naps a day, just one... so he is getting plenty of play time I think. I dunno, it just is crazy he just chills in his bed! Should I let him out?? (I say I am lucky and he is one stinkin' good baby and I should pray he keeps this up till after Ammon is here)... but what do you all think?

Also, he keeps getting the air vents open on the floor and throwing cars/toys down it! He even gets inside of them himself. How do I baby proof an air vent?

And just to update on Marek's sign language... he can now sign: car, milk, drink, banana, book, bath, cracker, cookie, water, dog, cheese, boy, hat, keys, fish, shoes, bear, more, tree, fan, helicopter, butterfly, flower, ice cream, ball, baby, bed, eat, please, thank you, prayer, all done and is SO close on many many more! Sign language is awesome and Marek LOVES it. His favorite thing to do, and he demands that we do it many times daily, is go through his sign language flash cards. He loves being able to communicate! I can't wait to teach Ammon!

AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNT KYLEE!!!!! THE BIG 21!!!!
oh, and now marek is sleeping. an hour and a half after i put him down.

I wouldn't be too worried about it depending on what time he wakes up. If he's in bed more than 12 hours then I might put him to bed later. But Morgan does the same thing. She takes 1 nap a day, and then goes to bed at 8pm and gets up between 8 and 9 am. But sometimes she lays in there and talks to herself for a good hour before falling asleep. He's obviously a smart kid, so I wouldn't worry that he's not beins stimulated enough. Also, I would put him to bed later if he isn't getting a lot of time with his dad after work.

Too much stimulation is a bad thing for babies. I agree with Katie. Keep him in bed. You'll definitely appreciate that time once baby #2 comes.

I say just let him be in bed. Cedar did that for a while too, but now he goes to bed shortly after I put him down. Occationally I hear him talking to himself, but I totally enjoy my time alone, or time with my hubby. Cedar only gets one nap a day too, unfortunately he doesn't go to sleep until 7:30-8. Though lately it's been much later (not something I want to keep up) Hope that helps. :) BTW, one more month baby! I'm SO excited as I'm sure you are too.
