Which rules do you break?

Can I really not eat over easy eggs because I am pregnant?? Someone tell me it's not so!!
I want my over easy eggs. They say not to but I can't resist and am eating them. Don't judge me too harshly. Anyway. It got me thinkin' about how many DON'TS there are in pregnancy. I was wondering...do you really stick to all of them and obey it word by word... or is there exceptions or some of you that think it is silly and go with what your momma says, "I had 10 children and I did all those things and all my children were fine." I tend to listen to my momma and her saying but still take caution to the new findings.
What, if any, rules are you lax on? Or what do you think is so silly? Obviously there are a lot of rules that you would be STUPID not to obey... let's focus on the ones that aren't so obvious...
Here is the list I made. Feel free to add to the don'ts!
You Should Avoid Raising Your Body Temperature
You Should Not Use a Sauna, Hot Tub or Take Long Hot Baths
You Should Avoid Cleaning Cat Litter Boxes.
You Should Avoid Uncooked Meat.

Do people still own waterbeds? I wonder why you aren't supposed to use those when pregnant. I'll be the first to admit that I broke many of those rules. I had TERRIBLE headaches in my 2nd trimester and my doctor advised me to drink a Coke. I also took perscription drugs (the approved ones). As for runny eggs, I think as long as the egg is hot, the salmonella is probably dead, but don't take my word on that. Good luck keeping all those rules. I won't call the MPs on you if you break them.

p.s. What are VDTs? Oh, and I once saw a pregnant woman smoking. I was absolutely aghast. Isn't that a no brainer?

With Morgan I kept MOST the rules. I did clean out the cat box, but I wore gloves and washed really well and I NEVER ate the cat poop! With this pregnancy, I'm going with my instincts. I've had caffeine, I've probably eaten unwashed veggies, I've dyed my hair, used acne face wash and anti aging cream. I've taken Tylenol, Benadryl, Sudafed and other prescription decongestants, Echinacea, and Vitamin C. I'm pretty sure my body temperature is sky rocketing in this Korean heat. I eat lunch meat, I've eaten Salmon. Oh, and with Morgan I got an xray done at the dentist.

I guess I'll have to let you know if Jackson comes out with 3 legs or 5 eyes. I think you just have to go with your gut. Obviously you shouldn't eat or do certain things in excess. I think if you eat those eggs everyday, then MAYBE it would be a concern. But you have a mother's intuition, go with it.

PS. During this pregnancy I've done a TON of research about the myths and I considered starting a blog with all my "findings" about what you REALLY can and cannot do. You hear so many rumors, its hard to know whats true and whats not, so maybe research a little. I know WebMD is pretty helpful with pregnancy myths.

This is so funny, I totally relate! All I can say is I pretty much killed half a thing of cookie dough by myself the other day. And don't we all try to avoid tick bites?!

The catbox one- I made sure that I stayed away from that. Mostly because every doctor I came across told me to, but also because it has been really nice to not scoop cat poop for the last 8 months, haha.

Sara,
I believe all of my children turned out okay and I didn't know about 1/4 of the stuff you listed. It really is about "common sense" Eggs are a carrier of salmonella so I would say be careful. Have you tried scrambled???? I have heard of more than one Dr. say a little coke is okay for a headache during your pregnancy. The "CAT BOX" is the one and I say one that I would caution against. "Use gloves or just plain don't do it" When I worked at my accounting job for Hardee's years ago, I worked with a girl that had several prized cats and her Dr. couldn't stress enough that she "Was not to change the litter box at all." He explained to her why and it made sense to me.
Otherwise, be a human being and not a robot..... You're fine aren't you??? I am sure your Mom hadn't heard of all the things you listed.
I love you bunches and have great faith in your wisdom.
