Pissed-Her Lyster!

Sorry for the foul language but Lyster really has made me MAD and it rhymed...

For those of you who don't know...Lyster is the army health clinic here on Fort Rucker. I have only heard bad things about it. That is why I have been taking Marek to Dothan, a 30 min drive, for all of his check ups. But we found out that Tricare had been messing with us and we got a bill we HAVE to pay for $250 because supposedly we were supposed to be going to LYSTER. So, we were mad but we paid the bill (well not yet, but we will) and moved Marek's primary care to Lyster. Anyway, that's not why I am mad this time.

We made Marek's 4 month appointment a month ago there. Yes, he is 5 months...we had to wait because we were in Utah for a month and then we switched doctors. So the SOONEST they could get us in was in a MONTH...which happened to be today. Feb. 4th at 1:50 with Dr. Carter. That is what they said a month ago...

So I gave Marek his tylenol before leaving, so the shots wouldn't be so bad, and we were off. I also had to talk about the doctor because MArek's constipation hasn't gone away and it's been 2 months! He has been living off of laxatives which is the only thing that makes him poop but now I am OUT so he is suffering. K, and when we go to check in at the counter they look at me all weird so I spell Marek's name for them....not the problem. The problem was that he did not have an appointment.

Yup, we waited a month for his appointment that wasn't even SCHEDULED. Welcome to Lyster. So the earliest they could get him in was in another 2 weeks!!! He will be 5 1/2 months for his 4 month shots. I asked if I could see a doctor about his constipation because that could not wait and she let me see an RN who, after I told her the 20 min. spill on MArek's constipation issue, scheduled him to see a doctor on Friday. Thank goodness. So Marek will only have to suffer another 2 days with that.

Not to mention I had a MILLION other questions...you know, a minor one about his FLAT HEAD! GRRRR. Just minor don't worry! Welcome to the ARMY...yay. Well, at least I know for sure now that I am not number one or two or three or four priority to anyone at the hospital and they could probably care less about my child.

Don't tick a mom off. Right? AHHHHH!!!!

That's Government-run healthcare for ya!!! HORRIBLE!! I am so sorry! But glad that you at least got the nurse to get you in sooner. (Way to speak up Sara!!)

Nick feels so BAD for patients at the Veterans (VA) Hospital...they get some of the worst care ever...

Don't know why anyONE would want the government running healthcare!!

I hope you can switch back to that other clinic...

Don't worry, they aren't ALL like that. Lyster is just one tiny clinic. I'v heard bad things about Army hospitals too, but I've loved this one here in Korea so far. I'm sorry you had to go through all that though.

I'm sorry babe! I wish I could have helped you out sooner! Sorry if I wasn't very clear when I was explaining Wesson's situation to you. I totally agree they should be a little more informative on what and where you need to go with new babies. It's confusing!

Oh girl, I am so sorry. That totally bites. I can't stand Socialized medicine. It's retarded. The government stinks sometimes. Hopefully you'll get a good doctor when you take him in.
