I had my doctors appointment today. Things didn't go well. Like some of you know, I have been worried since week 30 that Marek is breech. I had been asking the doctor ever since to check and see but he insisted on waiting until I was 38 weeks...today. So, I went in and he wasn't even going to check me until I insisted that he did. I have been having a lot of pelvic pain the past 2 weeks and it has been getting a lot worse so that was supposed to be a good sign that his head was in the right position. Well, an ultrasound later and we found out that he is still breech.
So, I am 38 weeks pregnant and breech. The doctor gave me two options. 1- they can try to turn Marek externally to get him in the right position. 2- i have a c-section. So this is what is going to happen:
Wednesday- my mom flies in from Utah (thank goodness, that worked out great)
Thursday at 7:15 am- check into labor and delivery and try to turn little Marek. If he does turn (PLEASE Pray that he will!!!!) then they will induce me right then because they don't want him to turn back around (which is a 30% chance he would). If he doesn't turn....then....
Friday at 7:00 am- C Section. I know lots of woman have c-sections, some being bad experiences but mostly good experiences. For me personally, I doooo noooot want to have one. It actually is like the worst case scenerio for me. So please. Pray for me and little Marek! We need it!!!
So, it is bitter sweet. I am going to have this baby this week!!!! AHHH! I really hope that he will turn, that things can go as perfectly as possible. I hope he isn't too stubborn like his mom :S If anyone has had c-sections or has had their babies turned, feel free to tell me your story! As long as it is a good one ;) I would really like to know though if the external moving thing worked for you though if anyone had it done. So far I have heard and know of nobody who it has worked on. Yikers. And yes, I hear it hurts like heck. I need prayers that I can be strong, too, cuz I am one little wuss I think!!! Thanks everyone. Oh, and if anyone has information on c-sections, like how many children you can have c-sectioned, after your first c-section if they will let you go naturally with your other pregnancies, recovery rate or just anything that would be great to know, too. I want to go into this thing with knowledge! :)

You and little Marek are definately in our prayers. I can't wait to meet him!
Good Luck Sara! It seems to me if I am remembering correctly it will depend on what kind of incision they do on you whether you will have to have c-sections from now on or not. Good Luck! How exciting! C-sections are amazing to watch! You will be fine! :) Love Ya!
I just consulted my nursing books and was correct. I will email you the info out of it.
I also never wanted to have a c-section but ended up having one, it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We will keep you in our prayers.
Oh sara, you are in our prayers too. We love you and hope everything goes well.
You'll be in our prayers! Yahoo! This week! That is so exciting! Let me know if you need anything and let me know when he comes and oooh this is so exciting!!!! Everything will go great. My sister has had two c-sections and the recovery is a little longer but he has felt great afterwards...no problems! Good luck!
You are in my prayers as well. From what I understand recovery is longer and sometimes (depending on the person) a little more difficult with a c-section. You can have a vaginal birth after having a c-section, but its more difficult and it depends on your doctor delivering the next baby. You are a strong woman and you will be amazed at what you'll be able to do for that little boy! Best of luck!
You will be in our prayers. It will all work out though. Keep being positive! :)
Hey Sara! Turning the baby may work out for you! They wouldn't even try if they never had any success. Just don't be too disappointed if you do have a c section. I have lots of experience with those. My doc said that he delivered a woman on her 7th c section. Not common. And I was told after two, you don't have any other choice. We hope all goes well! You are in good shape, and that really helps recovery, although I am in really bad shape, and I had a really good recovery, so be encouraged! We will thinking about you!
We will be praying for you as well. I had all three c-sections, but they were going to let me try to have our second on my on, but ours were big babies. On my first I went back and visited a friend in the hospital a week later (drove myself, don't do it ) I felt great!! You will do great!! Hang in there!!!
I had my last three girls c-section, and it's not too bad. If you are active, you heal much quicker, although everyone is different. Not to mention, all my girls were breach too! I was very afraid of turning the girls so I opted for the c-section. Also there is a possibility of sending you into labor in the process. You are in our prayers and let us know when Marek makes his grand entrance!
Oh my!! What a crazy week you will have! You'll definitely be in our prayers! Don't worry too much (of that's even possible!)...everything will work out okay. And, I actually do have a friend whose baby was turned. She said it hurt like he**, but it worked. So there is some hope there. I hope you have an awesome anesthesiologist! Some of Nick's favorite procedures are in Labor and Delivery because it is just such an awesome thing to witness Life...to see such a fresh spirit enter the world...regardless of whether it was a natural or C-section delivery. Good Luck with everything...I'm so glad your Mom will be there for you. Especially if you have to have the C-section...you'll love having all her help!
Ok, two things. I feel partly responsible for your c-section worries. Yes, it is crappy that sometimes people can't have vaginal deliveries, but remember that if the technologies for c-sections weren't available like they used to not be, probably you and your baby would die in this delivery... so that's something to be grateful for. Secondly, external palpation is a very painful process, it made me bruise and bleed, and put stress on Porter making his heart rate fluctuate a lot. Don't get me wrong, I still think you should try it. I just don't want to get your hopes up. They tried to turn Porter when I was only 36 weeks pregnant and he was still too big. But I really do hope it works. The only advice I can give is- go in, relax, breathe deeply, push back that desire to protect your baby- because it seems like the doctor is hurting him, but he's not, and try and be thankful if you do have to have a c-section that that option is even available. My sister had a c-section with her first kid and she's had four vaginal deliveries since then without any tearing or other problems. So there's hope for you and Chaz's dream of like 72 kids. Also, talk to Maxine Meyers. She had like 10 c-sections. I know it sucks, I feel your pain. The recovery is longer, but you won't even remember it when you see your beautiful little boy screaming his head off. I regret complaining so much about having to have a c-section, I really should have been grateful that we both made it out in one piece. That's all, I hope I eased some of your worries. Good luck, I can't WAIT to see pictures of the Russian supermodel and the super athlete's kid.
Good Luck Sara! My friend just had a c-section last night and she is doing great... hers was an emergency one so just be grateful you will know exactly what's going on. Plus look at the bright side maybe you won't have to experience all of the contractions and that good stuff. You are in our prayers.
You're both in my prayers. Love you
our prayers are with you!
